The Panettone is of Italian origin and is typically concocted and enjoyed during Christmas time. Its name derives from “panetto”, Italian for small loaf cake. Its story dates back to as far as the early 20th century. Bauli, an Italian bakery based in Verona and also present in the USA, is the most recognized Panettone brand in our present day. At home, we basically have the panettone cake for breakfast during the month of December. Dipped in black coffee, it brings you the optimal warmth you need. But not long ago, I noticed Bauli’s challenge on social media to style your panettone. This led me to be more creative with ours and to have fun with it by dressing it up 🙂 If you’re looking for something creative to do with kids, this can be a fun activity.
So here are the steps to styling your panettone for Christmas. It’s full of colors and candies to make everyone happy.
What you’ll need:
– 1 panettone. Choose the flavor of your choice but make sure to stick to the shape in the picture below
– Candy canes: large and small
– Icing sugar
– Any fun Christmas decorations in miniature (I got small Christmas ornaments and paper Christmas drawings)
– A box of toothpicks
Step 1: Hold your panettone firmly from the top and cross cut it. You’ll get slices of stars
Step 2: Re-arrange the slices so that it looks like a Christmas tree
Step 3: Stick some toothpicks evenly everywhere on your panettone then hang the ornaments and mini candy canes on them. Top the cake with 1 or 2 crashed large canes
Step 4: Add your last decorating touches and sprinkle the cake with icing sugar by sifting the sugar right above it
